All You Need to Know About Billing & Insurance

We understand that healthcare costs and insurance details can be confusing. Our goal is to make things as clear and straightforward as possible so you can focus on what matters most: your child’s health.

We’re happy to file your insurance claims for most major providers (with the exception of Medicaid and Medicare).

To make sure things go smoothly, please confirm with your insurance company that we’re in-network and make sure that we have your current insurance details on file. Even when we file claims for you, the parent or guarantor is ultimately responsible for any fees not covered by your plan.

If your child has coverage under multiple insurance plans, we follow Alabama’s “birthday rule”—whichever parent’s birthday falls first in the calendar year provides the primary coverage. In divorce cases, the court ruling will determine who is responsible for insurance coverage.

Copays are due at the time of your visit. If a copay isn’t paid during check-in, a $10 fee will be added to the account. While many insurance plans cover preventive visits without a copay, some routine services may not be included.

If you have an existing balance, we’ll kindly ask that it be paid at the time of your appointment. Need a little help? We’re happy to discuss payment arrangements with you.

We want to make payments easy and flexible for every family. You can pay using:

  • Cash or check
  • Credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover)
  • Online through our secure payment portal
  • Over the phone, by mail, or in person

Please note that returned checks will include a $30 processing fee.

We send out monthly statements to help you keep track of your account. If a balance hasn’t been paid after 90 days and no payment plan has been set up, the account may be sent to collections.

In that case, the guarantor will be responsible for any additional costs related to the collection process. We’re always here to help if you need assistance or a payment plan.

To help us serve all families efficiently, we ask that routine forms (like school, camp, or sports physicals) be requested at the time of your visit. If they’re requested later, there’s a $5 fee and a 24-hour processing time.

Please note that FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) paperwork has a $35 fee and a processing time of five to seven business days.
